Our Team

Dr Dalila Gabb, Lead Dentist

Dalila is truly passionate about people, especially those she has had the opportunity to help through dentistry. It is important to her to understand her patient’s desires and needs so that a consistent, quality result can be achieved in any type of dental treatment. “The dental plan should suit the patients face and personality, because the psychological result of these treatments is just as important as the aesthetic look and function,” she says.

Dalila has been a general dentist for over 12 years and her focus has been on both general and cosmetic dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), Executive Member of the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (NZACD), a member of the Auckland Dental Association, and the New Zealand Dental Association.

René Prinsloo, Practice Manager

René has been associated with Lumino for more than 10 years. She started off as a dental assistant, receptionist and adolescent mobile manager for secondary schools and has been with the Takapuna team for five years. René is responsible for leading the customer service, administration, finance, personnel management and treatment co-ordination. She puts her heart and soul into her work and loves working with her colleagues and making the workplace fun and vibrant.

Originally from South Africa, René has spent most of her life in Auckland. When she’s not working, René enjoys walking, fishing and being a mum. She is also studying part-time Personnel Management and loves it.

Dr Brett Hawkins, Lead Orthodontic Dentist

Dr Brett Hawkins graduated from the University of Otago School of Dentistry in 1992 and started his career in Christchurch Hospital. The warmer weather drew him to the north with his young family where he worked in a busy cosmetic practice in Whangarei.

Since 1995 he has practised dentistry in Auckland with his main interests being orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. Brett is currently lead orthodontic dentist at Lumino The Dentists in Mt Eden and Takapuna.

Dr Chris Ferreira, Dentist

Chris graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa
in 1984, and completed an honours degree in 1989. From
1984 he gained valuable experience, first working in the Defence Force medical services, followed by a period with
the Department of National Health. He was in solo private practice in South Africa for 12 years before making the move to New Zealand in mid-2006.

He enjoys practising dentistry, maintaining a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry and implantology, and his goal is to
provide high-quality care, professionally and ethically in a friendly and caring environment. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, tramping, playing the piano, live theatre and reading.

Jake Innes, Clinical Technician

Jake has a Diploma in Dental Technology, Advanced Certificate in Clinical Dental Tech and is a member of the
New Zealand Institute of Dental Technologists. He has been working as a clinical technician for 15 years and enjoys the hand on creativeness of designing and making new smiles. Jake also works out of Lumino The Dentists branches in Red Beach and Botany.

His specialties include repairs, partial dentures, full upper
and lower dentures. When Jake is not busy working he
likes to spend time with his family outdoors fishing, snorkelling, camping, hiking and skiing.

Donna Kennedy, Dental Therapist

Donna graduated from Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Science Majoring in Oral Health and is a member of the New Zealand Dental Therapists Association. She is very passionate about working with adolescents.

Her aim is to give patients an informed, positive dental experience. She will assess your child’s individual needs to achieve optimal dental health by educating them on oral hygiene.

Sharon Boutell, Hygienist

In 1998, Sharon qualified from St Bartholomew’s and Royal London Hospital, UK as dental hygienist and dental therapist. She is a very experienced dental hygienist and brings with her proven clinical and educational abilities in both adult and paediatric dentistry.

Since qualifying 13 years ago, she has worked in all aspects of dentistry from paediatric and periodontal private practice to oral surgery, working with high-risk and oral cancer patients, and with the British Armed Forces.

Sharon is also a hygienist at Lumino The Dentists Henderson and Red Beach.

 

Dr Bryce Cameron, Dentist

Bryce graduated from Otago University in 1975. He is a highly experienced dentist who has been working for Lumino for the past six months. Bryce really enjoys general dentistry work and also has an interest in the area of endodontics - crowns, bridges and implants.

Outside of the practice Bryce likes to spend his time fishing, boating and playing golf.

 

 

 

Dr Pieter Van Der Merwe, Dentist

Piet is a highly skilled dentist with 13 years experience. He is the most recent addition to the Lumino Takapuna team, having recently moved to NZ from the UK.

Piet has a special interest in root canal treatments (endodontics), though he also performs a range of general and cosmetic dentistry. Piet recognises the ever-changing technologies and techniques in dentistry and as such regularly partakes in further study.

When he’s not in the practice, Piet enjoys diving, surfing, spear fishing, kayaking and fishing.

Piet also works at Lumino's Smile Studio, Orewa practice.
