Our Team

Dr Martin Langford, Lead Dentist

Martin graduated from Birmingham University in the UK in 1990 and has been with the practice since December 1998. He especially enjoys repairing broken smiles, using aesthetic/tooth coloured matches to rebuild damaged teeth.

Martin’s main interest is treatment under the influence of sedation – very useful for nervous patients! He also employs techniques to make dental extractions as stress-free for the patient as possible. Martin attends regular courses to keep up with new techniques, ideas and technologies.

Martin’s spare time is spent with family – his wife and two kids, attempting to keep fit, cooking, reading and occasional gardening. He also tells us that he is a top bloke with limitless potential, fantastic skills, dashing good looks and the mystique of a Jedi-God. You be the judge!

 

Dr Peter Coulter, Dentist

Peter has been practicing dentistry since graduating from Edinburgh, Scotland in 1983 and has been with Lumino for the past year. He is hoping to complete some postgraduate distance learning through Otago University next year.

Peter’s patients benefit from the way he tries to change their views of dentistry (it doesn’t have to be scary!) and working with them to make the best of their appearance and oral health. He has a particular interest in the possibilities of modern dental materials, especially composite resin.

Outside of the practice, Peter enjoys wood carving and cookery and spending time relaxing at home. He is also in the process of developing a website that explains more about himself and his philosophy.

 

Deidre Pearse, Hygienist

Deidre recently joined the practice after building up years of experience and knowledge since graduating from Otago University in 2001. She has found the Lumino staff to be helpful, friendly, informative and kind.

Her passion is to provide the best care for her patients. She also enjoys getting to know people and educating patients so they gain a better understanding of their gums, teeth and periodontal disease. Deidre likes to keep up-to-date with current, evidence-based concepts and treatment plans to attend Administering Local Anaesthetic courses in the future.

Deidre keeps busy in her spare time with her pet dog King, movies, music, nature walks, gym exercise classes and charity. Deidre also works at Lumino's Taradale practice.
