Our Team

Dr Humphrey Walker, Lead Dentist

Humphrey graduated in 1993 and has been the Principle dentist at Lumino Taradale since 1999. He appreciates the long term relationships that he has formed with his patients, and he has a keen interest in laser dentistry, crowns, bridges, implants, periodontics.

When he’s not in the practice, Humphrey enjoys spending time with family, fishing, gardening and clay target shooting. Humphrey is an active member of the NZIMID (New Zealand Institute of Minimal Intervention Dentistry www.nzimid.org) of which he is also the past President and current Executive Director.

Deidre Pearse, Hygienist

Deidre recently joined the practice after building up years of experience and knowledge since graduating from Otago University in 2001. She has found the Lumino staff to be helpful, friendly, informative and kind.

Her passion is to provide the best care for her patients. She also enjoys getting to know people and educating patients so they gain a better understanding of their gums, teeth and periodontal disease. Deidre likes to keep up-to-date with current, evidence-based concepts and treatment plans to attend Administering Local Anaesthetic courses in the future.

Deidre keeps busy in her spare time with her pet dog King, movies, music, nature walks, gym exercise classes and charity. Deidre also works at Lumino's Tamatea practice.

 

Linda Dempsey, Practice Manager

Linda has been front desk dental for 18 years and of those she has been with the practice for 7 ½ years.

Linda loves meeting and greeting patients and helping them to feel at ease before their appointments. She also enjoys all the new friends she can make at the practice, whether staff or patients.

In her spare time Linda enjoys spending time with her family, walking and reading

 

Dr Sam Goldsmith, Oral Surgeon

Sam graduated from Otago University with a BDS Dip Clin Dent (Oral Surgery). He is new to Lumino, but has years of experience and skill in oral surgery.

Sam is a visiting clinician attending to the practice’s oral surgery needs. Sam is able to offer a wide range of surgical care in a high quality environment.

Outside of work Sam enjoys experiencing new people and places through travel.

 

Dr Darryl Violich, Endodontist

Darryl is an experienced Endodontist, having graduated with a Dip Clin Dent (Endodontics) from Otago University. He has been working with the practice for a year, providing quality treatment solutions at a specialist level.

Darryl is a visiting Endodontist and consults from the practice’s rooms on a monthly basis. We are very pleased to have access to his services as there is no Endodontist in the Hawke’s Bay. While full consultations are provided in our rooms, treatment is provided in Darryl’s specialist rooms in Tauranga.
