Our Team

Dr Matt Ross, Lead Dentist

Matt is a conscientious dentist with a reputation for being gentle and caring. He is highly skilled and experienced in all aspects of dentistry and is able to offer state of the art cosmetic treatments through the use of dental photography.

Matt was educated in Whangarei and trained at Otago University in Dunedin. He worked and travelled in Europe with his wife before moving home to Whangarei in 2004. Matt loves living in Whangarei, with it’s beautiful beaches and temperate climate, making it an ideal place to raise his family. Matt and his wife have three young children.

Outside of dentistry, Matt enjoys morning ‘Boot Camp’ training sessions, tennis, rugby, fishing, gardening and cooking.

In recent years, Matt has undertaken advanced training and passed several exams to be certified to practise IV sedation and be accredited with a Level 6 Advanced Life Support status. He has completed advanced courses in Implantology and can now offer implant surgery to his patients as an alternative to dentures and bridge work. He is currently studying towards a Diploma in Implantology through the Royal College of Edinburgh in Scotland. He hopes to be one of the first dentists in Australasia to have this formal qualification.

 

Dr Richard Liggins, Dentist

After completing a degree in Marine Biology in 1979 and travelling the world, Richard graduated with his degree in dentistry in 1987. He is continuing his education in complex aesthetic rehabilitation of people’s mouths, dental implants, and modern endodontic techniques.

Richard loves helping people reach their own potential for a healthy life. He enjoys making this contribution in an authentic, caring way and enjoys the daily challenge of providing a high quality of work. Richard is especially interested in Aesthetic
Oral Rehabilitation combined with preventative dentistry,
sedation techniques - including hypnosis, appearance dentistry and making the dental experience as enjoyable and non-threatening as it can be.

Outside of the practice Richard loves to spend his time diving, surfing, at the gym, playing with his little boy, and he also dabbles in underwater photography. Richard also works at Lumino's Dargaville practice.

 

Julie Carter, Practice Manager

Julie has been with us for over five years and has extensive experience in the customer services area, especially working with the elderly. This has given her unique skills for relating to our clients in a caring manner. Julie enjoys fishing and her family.
