Our Team

 

Dr Eric Marinovich, Lead Dentist

Eric was one of the first general dentists to undertake implant surgery in New Zealand and is well regarded for this work in the wider Wellington region. He has been in the Dental Rooms practice since they joined Lumino in 2007. Eric graduated from the University of Otago in 1970 and his dental interests include dental implants, oral surgery, crowns and bridges. His ongoing learning is currently focused towards implant rehabilitation.

Eric firmly believes that regular visits to the dentist are something that should start as a adolescent to prevent future dental problems and higher costs. Outside of the dental practice Eric is a keen gardener, dancer and cyclist.

Trish Harrington, Practice Manager

Trish is a long serving member of the Masterton practice joining them in 1999 before they joined the Lumino team, so she is well known to all their patients and the Masterton community. She has valuable knowledge in the dental field and is experienced in assisting all patients to assure that they have a positive experience when visiting their dentist.

Trish enjoys helping their patients to achieve their healthy smile and working with a great team. When she has time away from the practice Trish enjoys travel, gardening, cycling, reading and spending time with her daughter who lives in Christchurch.

Dr Joanna Hayes, Dentist

Joanna is also an Otago graduate with years of experience in dental treatment since graduating in 1988. She has been with the Masterton practice since 2005 and stayed on when they joined Lumino in 2007. Joanna is great with her patients and enjoys the interaction she has with them, but more importantly educating them so that they can manage their own oral health.

Joanna has dental interests in preventative dentistry, orthodontics and dental hygiene and the focus of her continuing professional development lies in orthodontics and direct restorations. Outside of the practice Joanna enjoys dancing and teaching dance and grape growing (viticulture) to produce her own wine.

Dr Lieb Taljaard, Dentist

Lieb has been with the Lumino in Masterton since late 2010. He graduated in 1988 from the University of Pretoria (Home of the Blue Bulls) but now loves his home in New Zealand and being part of the Lumino group. Lieb’s dental interests lie in aesthetic work, such as makeovers, and crown and bridge work.

Lieb loves to help patients improve their oral health, get what they wanted/needed done in their mouths and reach a point where they feel proud of their dentition – although he finds doing a good day’s proper dentistry just as rewarding!

Lieb's interests outside of the practice include motor racing, rugby, spending time with his family and with church activities; Lieb runs his own Bible study group and is a Sunday School teacher for Intermediate schools.

Dr Ngahina Gillies, Dentist

Ngahina graduated from University of Otago in 2010 and has been with the Masterton practice since September 2011. She likes making people smile and teaching them how to look after their teeth properly so that ideally, they won’t have to have anymore restorations placed in their mouths.

Ngahina is currently learning more about ceramic dentistry and anterior composites, to aid in her interest with ceramic and composite dentistry. She also works to achieve minimal intervention dentistry, with a ‘Prevention is better than cure’ approach. When she gets some spare time, Ngahina enjoys relaxing, baking, reading, spending time with her family and friends and walking Duke, her black Labrador.
