Our Team

 

Dr Rob Young, Lead Dentist

Rob established the three Smile Creations practices, beginning with Waikanae in 2006, then Levin in 2007 and Otaki in 2008 before joining the Lumino group in late 2011. He is a highly skilled and experienced dentist, having graduated in 1986 from Otago University.

The part Rob enjoys most about being a dentist is restoring someone’s smile and his dental interests lie in cosmetic dentistry and implants. Outside of the practice Rob loves getting involved in his community through his work teaching Kung Fu.

Dr Joanna Chen-Green, Dentist

Jo joined the Lumino Otaki practice in 2011, after graduating from the University of Otago with a BDS with Credit, in 2010. She continues to add to her knowledge base by attending different courses or conferences about once a month.

Jo’s main interests lie in general dental practice, though she is also interested in restorative dentistry. Her favourite part of the job is making people smile and showing them that there is nothing scary about coming to the dentist!

When she’s not working hard in the practice, Jo likes to travel, read a good book and cook new recipes from around the world.

 

Samantha Badenhorst, Dental Hygienist/Therapist

Sam graduated with her BOH in 2010 from the Auckland University of Technology and has been with Lumino since 2011. She loves interacting with her patients, understanding their needs, and working together with them to improve their overall oral health.

Sam’s interests include educating adolescents about oral health, educating her patients about gum disease and the link to their overall systemic health and working with a ‘Prevention is better than cure’ motto.

In her spare time, Sam enjoys sightseeing, running and spin classes. Her weekends are spent catching up with her husband as he is a full time vet student.

Sam also works in Lumino's Levin and Palmerston North practices.

 

Pam Rose, Receptionist

Pam has been an important fixture of the Lumino Otaki practice for 5 ½ years. She is the smiling face you will meet when you first walk in the door.

Pam gets a real sense of joy from greeting and talking with patients when they arrive for their appointments.

Outside of the practice Pam loves gardening, biking, cooking and fishing.
