Our Team

 

Dr Stephen Houston, Lead Dentist

Stephen has been with the Silverstream practice since 1995. He is an accomplished dentist, with over 20 years of experience since graduating from Otago University in 1990.

For Stephen, the most enjoyable part of his work is treating and getting to know families and trying to make dental treatment as pleasant as possible with his relaxed and caring approach. His dental interests lie in general and cosmetic dentistry, especially crown and bridge work and endodontics. Stephen also makes sure to attend courses in a wide variety of dental topics so that his knowledge is fresh and current.

When he’s not in the practice, Stephen enjoys participating in a variety of sports and junior sports coaching.

Dr Lynette Lim, Dentist

Since graduating from the University of Otago in 2007 Lynette has been working in Sydney. She was a dental officer for Westmead Centre for Oral Health and she worked in private practices across Sydney. Lynette is the newest addition to the Silverstream team, starting in March 2012.

Lynette enjoys working with patients and her colleagues as a team to find out what the patient’s oral health goals are and then focusing on getting them there – and beyond. Her main interests are restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, crowns and bridges, root canal treatment and orthodontics.

Lynette attends numerous lectures and courses on all aspects of dentistry to keep her knowledge and skills up-to-date with the latest evidence-based research. She is currently attending an orthodontic course, once a month, at the University of Sydney, where she places fixed and removable appliances for patients.

Outside of the practice Lynette enjoys being in the great outdoors – walking, running, cycling and snorkelling.

Fiona Lunn, Hygienist

Fiona has been with Silverstream Dental for 8 years – since graduating in 2003 from Otago University. She regularly attends continuing education meetings and goes to conferences and is hoping to attend an Administering of Local Anaesthetic course in the future.

It is important to Fiona that she treats people in a professional, friendly and gentle manner so they have the confidence to visit her on a regular basis. She really enjoys helping encourage patients to take care of their oral health so they prevent or resolve teeth and gum/periodontal disease issues.

In her spare time Fiona enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing social hockey and reading.

Sara Crowther, Dental Therapist and Hygienist

Sara graduated from the University of Otago in 2011. In her final year of study she received the New Zealand Dental Hygienists Association prize for her academic achievement.

Sara is a dual-trained professional in both dental hygiene and dental therapy. She started work with Lumino when ownership changed in February 2012.

Sara has a very friendly manner and enjoys enabling individuals to take responsibility for their oral health.

Maree Houston, Practice Manager

Maree is part of the original Silverstream Dental which was established in 1995. She brings with her many years of experience both chair-side and managing a dental practice.

Maree loves working with the friendly and experienced team at Silverstream Dental to ensure that all patients receive the individual care they require to make their visit a pleasant experience.
