Dentures with Jake Innes

Are you missing teeth? Do you want to improve the look of your smile? If you’re after a functional and cost-effective option for missing teeth, then dentures could be just right for you.

Dentures have been around for many years and are an excellent solution to help improve your ability to speak and chew.

Benefits of dentures

  • They can improve your appearance and confidence.
  • They can help improve speech and give you function back in your mouth making it easier to eat.
  • They’re long-lasting. With good care and maintenance, dentures can last many years.
  • They can help prevent the dental problems that can occur from missing teeth.

Denture care

Taking care of your dentures and recognising the signs for replacement is important for maintaining good oral health. With proper care and timely replacements your dentures will continue to serve you well ensuring you have a happy and confident smile.

To ensure that your dentures offer good support and continue to fit you well you will likely need to replace your dentures every 8 to 10 years.

If your dentures become loose or damaged, consult with your dentist or technician immediately.

  • Brush your dentures daily with a soft denture brush and mild, non-abrasive denture cleaner.
  • Clean your gums, tongue and the roof of your mouth with a soft-bristled brush to prevent plaque build-up.
  • Place your dentures in a denture-cleaning solution or water overnight to keep them moist and maintain their shape.
  • Treat your dentures gently. Avoid using hot water or harsh chemicals, as they may cause damage.
  • Limit the consumption of drinks that stain like coffee, tea and red wine or rinse your mouth after consumption.
  • Visit for regular check-ups and adjustments.

Signs that your dentures may need to be replaced.

  • Your dentures show signs of wear, cracks, chips or no longer fit well.
  • You’re experiencing gum irritation or sores.
  • You find it challenging to eat or speak properly.

If you notice significant changes in your smile or the way your dentures feel, consult with your dental technician, Jake.

Re-lining your dentures

As your mouth is slowly changing shape your dentures may need to be re-lined from time to time. Re-lining your dentures is a simple procedure and is usually done on the day you visit.

How much do dentures cost?

The cost of dentures can depend on a few different factors. The price may depend on the scale of the treatment and the condition of your teeth. Each situation can be unique. We recommend booking a consultation with a dentist. At the consultation appointment, they will examine your teeth and be able to give you an estimate of the price.
