Oral Surgeon

Keira Malone

Keira has been providing oral surgery and dental implant services in Christchurch for two years and is utilising cutting edge digital technology for dental implant treatment. She also works on her day off at the Charity hospital.

Keira achieved her fellowship in Oral Surgery (FFDOS) in 2017, from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She completed Oral Surgery specialist training and achieved a Clinical Doctorate in Oral Surgery (D.Ch. Dent. OS) in 2017, from Trinity College Dublin with first class Honours. Keira achieved her fellowship in Oral Surgery (FFDOS) in 2017, from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She completed Oral Surgery specialist training and achieved a Clinical Doctorate in Oral Surgery (D.Ch. Dent. OS) in 2017, from Trinity College Dublin with first class Honours. Keira completed a research thesis during this time and was awarded prizes at both National and International level for same. She underwent the gold standard for training in Dental Conscious Sedation in the United Kingdom and was awarded a Diploma in Conscious Sedation in Dentistry in 2014, from The University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, receiving a distinction for her associated thesis. Keira achieved the MFD in 2010 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Primary Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2005, Vocational Training Certificate from The University of Bristol in 2000, Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1999 from the University of Birmingham 1999 and certificates in Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy from the University of Birmingham ,1999.

Keira has extensive academic knowledge and practical clinical application and can uniquely apply her academic input to clinical situations. She has trained, worked, taught and examined undergraduate and post graduate dental students in Ireland, The United Kingdom and Australia; and has a broad depth of knowledge and skill in the field of Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology. She has also worked in general dental practice, community dental posts, hospital posts and has worked as senior itinerant dentist for the Royal Flying Doctor Service Queensland Australia for four years. Her outstanding interest is twofold-firstly making the patients journey and experience as comfortable and pleasant as is practicable and where her advanced skills learned and applied for many years in the field of dental anxiety; and secondly, her interest in improving function and aesthetics with the aid of dental implants to improve dental and overall patient’s health.  She has great rapport with referring clinicians who she has delivered educational CPD evenings to and welcomes open lines of communication to discuss cases and offer advice. Above all else, Keira favours a team approach with every case.

Keira is the proud recipient of numerous academic awards from her Undergraduate degree right through to achieving the highest grades in the history of the Oral Surgery training course Trinity College Dublin with an overall score of 95.5%. She was also awarded a community award from Queensland Health for the outstanding contribution she played in improving Indigenous Health during her tenure in Australia.

She enjoys home life with her husband and five year-old daughter.

Shatakshi Sharma

Shatakshi graduated from India with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2018 and completed her post-graduation in Business Administration in 2020 from New Zealand. The combination of her qualifications makes her an ideal manager to bridge the gap between our clinicians, support team and patients as she understands both the clinical and business part of the company.

Shatakshi believes in building happy and trustworthy relationships with patients and her team. She enjoys solving their queries and listening to their stories. She is driven by the idea of keeping chill and going on. She is enthusiastic, amiable and always a team…

Implant Coordinator/Surgical Assistant

Scarlett Halls

Scarlett came to New Zealand 3 years ago to travel and ended up falling in love with the country and stayed. 

13 years' experience in dentistry has led her to work alongside Dr Keira Malone at Strowan Oral Surgery which she enjoys immensely.  

In her spare time Scarlett volunteers at a local dog rescue and enjoys spending time with her own dogs.

Surgical Assistant

Maddie Dew

Maddie is a qualified NZDA Dental Assistant and had been working in General Dentistry for 5 years before making the change into Oral Surgery. Maddie enjoys the variety of work and new learning that comes with assisting in Oral Surgery.  

Maddie has a love of horses and spends her spare time working on her beef and sheep farm with her partner and dogs.
