Dr. Brett Hawkins graduated from the University of Otago School of Dentistry in 1992 and began his career at Christchurch Hospital. The warmer weather eventually drew him north with his young family, where he worked in a busy cosmetic practice in Whangarei.

Since 1995, Dr. Hawkins has been practising dentistry in Auckland, focusing primarily on orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. He is the lead dentist in both Mt. Eden and Takapuna White Smile. As the head of a thriving orthodontic program, Dr. Hawkins' passion is straightening the teeth of both adolescent and adult patients using Invisalign. He is recognised as a Platinum Invisalign provider, reflecting his extensive experience and high level of proficiency with orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Hawkins is dedicated to staying at the forefront of dental technology and techniques. He regularly attends professional development courses and conferences to ensure his patients receive the most up-to-date and effective treatments available. His commitment to excellence is evident in the personalised care he provides, tailoring each treatment plan to meet the unique needs and goals of his patients.

Dr. Brett Hawkins offers an extensive range of cosmetic treatments, including Botox, fillers, veneers, bridges, and crowns. The loyalty and trust Brett’s patients have in his care are evident as they travel from all over New Zealand to receive treatment from him.

Dr Ewan Yun has been a dedicated Lumino dentist since 2000 and has been serving full-time at the Mt Eden branch. Ewan is highly skilled and committed to providing exceptional dental care to all his patients, with expertise in both general and cosmetic dentistry. His specialties include white fillings, root canal therapy, wisdom teeth extractions, cosmetic dentistry as well as placing and restoring dental implants.

Over the last 20 years, Ewan has developed a high level of proficiency in treating complex root canal cases since 2009, achieving great success. He finds the most rewarding aspect of his role is helping patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles. 

Ewan is known for his gentle approach and his ability to put patients at ease, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience during their dental visits. Ewan also offers sedation options, including intravenous (IV) sedation, for patients who prefer this method or experience dental anxiety.

Ewan's passion for dentistry and his dedication to patient care have made him a highly respected and trusted dentist within the Lumino network. He looks forward to continuing to serve his patients with the same level of excellence and care for many years to come.

Jenny graduated from Otago school of Dentistry in 2002, having previously done a BSc in Auckland. Jenny spent her first years in Cairns, Australia working in the hospital, in schools and in the outback with Queensland’s flying doctors. When Jenny returned to New Zealand she worked in private practices in Hamilton and Auckland.

Since Jenny was 15 years old, she has wanted to be a dentist and thoroughly enjoys her role and the people she meets. Jenny loves working with her patients building treatment plans that suit their personal needs and the needs of their teeth. Jenny likes to think that every patient she treats will be with her till the day she retires, and with that in mind she strives to be doing good quality dentistry that will stand the test of time.

Jenny is a big fan of recreating smiles with the exciting technologies available, including implants, porcelain crowns, bridges, veneers, whitening and even simple composite fillings.

Jenny is currently working part time to enable her to spend as much time as possible with her three children. She loves reading and anything crafty, particularly knitting and quilting.

Dr. Ahalya Kumar graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from M.S. Ramaiah Dental College in 2016. She is passionate about all aspects of dentistry, especially cosmetic dentistry, root canal treatment, and crown and bridge procedures. Ahalya is dedicated to providing high-quality dental care and making dental visits comfortable and stress-free. She prides herself on helping patients overcome dental fears and building their confidence. 

Outside of work, Ahalya enjoys travelling, hiking, and kayaking, spending every weekend hiking in the mountains. 

A lifelong resident of Mt. Eden, she is proud to be part of Lumino Mt Eden and finds great satisfaction in treating her patients while contributing to her community. She often jokes about retiring in the area, highlighting her deep connection and love for it.

Sarah graduated from AUT with a degree in Oral Health Therapy in 2018 and is passionate about promoting oral health and providing exceptional care to her patients. Sarah has a particular interest in taking care of patients' periodontal health, ensuring that their gums are healthy and well-maintained. Sarah’s approach is to provide personalised care, educate patients about the importance of oral hygiene, and develop tailored treatment plans to meet each individual’s needs.

Sarah looks forward to helping all her patients achieve a healthy and beautiful smile, building lasting relationships, and making their dental visits as comfortable and positive as possible. Sarah’s patient’s oral health is her priority, and is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care in a friendly and supportive environment.

Hira graduated from AUT in 2017 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Oral Health) and is a registered Oral Health Therapist.

Hira finds deep satisfaction in enhancing patients' oral health through both hands-on treatment and comprehensive education. She believes that well-informed patients are empowered to effectively manage their oral health, leading to improved overall outcomes. Building meaningful patient relationships is a cornerstone of her practice, where she values learning from diverse experiences and fostering lasting connections. Continuously dedicated to her professional growth, Hira actively engages in professional development courses to stay updated on advancements in technology, materials, products, and research within her field.

Beyond her professional commitments, Hira treasures spending quality time with her friends and family. She welcomed a baby boy into her life at the end of 2023, bringing immense joy and fulfilment. Hira also enjoys unwinding with her favourite shows on Netflix and embraces opportunities to explore new destinations and reconnect with nature.

Saleha graduated from Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Oral Health in 2018. Her passion for dentistry stems from her love of children, leading her to a career that combines both interests. Saleha worked with the School Dental Service for four years, serving various areas around Auckland, and also practised in private settings to maintain her hygiene scope.

Saleha is passionate about paediatric dentistry and takes special interest in providing primary dental care for children under 18. This includes examinations, fillings, extractions and fissure sealants/protection. Saleha is detail-oriented and committed to continuous learning, regularly attending conferences and reading recent articles. Her goal is to offer pain-free dentistry and create positive experiences for patients of all ages. She enjoys meeting new people, building lasting relationships, and making dentistry a lifelong journey.

Outside of work, Saleha is an avid foodie who loves exploring new food places, reviewing eateries, and cooking for family and friends.

Ruby has joined the dental industry at the beginning of 2024. Ruby's unwavering commitment to excellent customer service and her exceptional administrative skills make her our admin superstar. Ruby is a meticulous organiser, making sure nothing falls through the cracks. Her dedication to continuous learning and improvement is evident in her work, and she is always looking for ways to enhance the patient experience. Ruby loves getting to know patients and being a part of their dental journey. She finds joy in building strong connections and seeing the progress they make over time.

Outside of Lumino, Ruby is a qualified cosmetologist specialising in professional makeup services for weddings, runways and commercial services. She is an animal lover and will love to show you a photo of her cat, Chimichanga, whenever she gets a chance.
