Dr Ewan Yun

Ewan Yun is a long serving Lumino dentist and has been part of the team since 2000. He has already been full time in Mt Eden branch.

Ewan is highly skilled and committed to providing all his patients with exceptional dental treatment ranging from general dentistry to cosmetic dentistry. His special interest includes white fillings, root canal therapy, wisdom teeth extraction and cosmetic dentistry.

He also has been placing and restoring dental implants in the last 10 years with great results.

The most enjoyable part of his role is helping people achieve healthy and beautiful mouths.

Dr Brett Hawkins

Dr Brett Hawkins graduated from the University of Otago School of Dentistry in 1992 and started his career in Christchurch Hospital. The warmer weather drew him to the north with his young family where he worked in a busy cosmetic practice in Whangarei.

Since 1995 he has practised dentistry in Auckland, with his main interests being orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. Brett practices at Lumino The Dentists in Mt Eden and Takapuna.
 

As the head of a thriving orthodontic programme, Brett straightens the teeth of adolescent and adult patients using traditional braces and  also using Invisalign. Brett is a Platinum Invisalign provider.

Dr Jenny McSweeney

Jenny graduated from Otago school of Dentistry in 2002, having previously done a BSc in Auckland. Jenny spent her first years in Cairns, Australia working in the hospital, in schools and into the outback with Queensland’s flying doctors. When Jenny returned to New Zealand she worked in private practices in Hamilton and Auckland.

Jenny graduated from Otago school of Dentistry in 2002, having previously done a BSc in Auckland. Jenny spent her first years in Cairns, Australia working in the hospital, in schools and into the outback with Queensland’s flying doctors. When Jenny returned to New Zealand she worked in private practices in Hamilton and Auckland.

Since Jenny was 15 years old she has wanted to be a dentist and thoroughly enjoys her role and the people she meets. Jenny loves working with her patients building treatment plans that suit their personal needs and the needs of their teeth. Jenny likes to think that every patient she treats will be with her till the day she retires, and with that in mind she strives to be doing good quality dentistry that will stand the test of time.

Jenny is a big fan of recreating smiles with the exciting technologies available, including implants, porcelain crowns, bridges, veneers, whitening and even simple composite fillings.

Jenny is currently working part time to enable her to spend as much time as possible with her two small children. She loves reading and anything crafty, particularly knitting and quilting, although these days it’s mostly finger painting and play dough.

Alya Kumar graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from M.S. Ramaiah Dental College in 2016.

She enjoys all aspects of dentistry but takes particular interest in the art of cosmetic dentistry, preventive dentistry as well as crown and bridges.

Her goals to accomplish at work are to deliver the best dental care to all patients and make each patient’s dental experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

What Alya loves most about her job is helping anyone overcome fears from bad dental experience and other traumatic experiences. She loves being in this sensitive, trusted position, and gradually building a patient’s confidence in dentistry and in themselves. She does this by tuning into a person’s every move with 100% of her attention, being extremely gently, kind, and patient. Helping someone relax is very fulfilling to her.

Alya’s favourite things to do outside of the practice are, travel, hike, kayak, and watch Netflix.

Her place to be when she’s not working is the mountains, hiking. She’s there every weekend.

Emily is a graduate of AUT with a Bachelor's of Health Science (Oral Health) in 2023 and was awarded ‘Excellence in Patient Management’ from the NZ Oral Health Association.

In addition to her expertise in dental health, having worked in the industry for the past 6 years,  Emily is also a qualified Life Coach.

With a deep-seated passion for delivering patient-centred care, Emily strives to educate and enhance not only oral health but overall well-being using a holistic approach. Sarah graduated from AUT in 2018 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Oral Health). She enjoys her role as an Oral Health Therapist and loves sharing her skills and knowledge with all the people she meets. She enjoys interacting with people, learning about their experiences and building long lasting patient relationships.

Sarah enjoys helping patients make a difference in their oral health through hands-on treatment and patient education on the importance of home care. She believes effective patient education results in greater awareness and motivation of self-management which benefits overall health.

Saleha Ali-Sahib

Saleha graduated from Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Oral Health in 2018

She has an eye for detail and loves continuously learning and upskilling herself through conferences and recent articles. She also likes to support this by working in an environment that allows her to constantly grow.

Saleha's goal is to provide pain-free dentistry and a good memorable experience for patients of all ages as dentistry can be very daunting. She enjoys meeting different people throughout the day, getting to know them and building dentistry for life.

Outside of the practice, Saleha is an avid foodie. She loves exploring food places and is constantly on the lookout for good food. Saleha loves discussing food and reviewing places she eats at and enjoys cooking for family and friends.
