Dr Andrew Paul

Andrew enjoys being part of the diverse and talented team at St Albans Dental Centre. He graduated from Otago in 2009, then worked for one year at Christchurch Hospital under the Maxillofacial team loving the surgical exposure.

Andrew then moved to Australia for four years and worked privately in a mix of hospital and general dentistry taking in the wider experience it offered. With the mountains in winter and the ocean in summer he couldn’t think of a better place to be.

Andrew has a strong interest in restorative dentistry, supplemented by sedation when needed. Preventive dentistry is fundamental in our practice, and he feels with the team we have, we strive in providing long term oral health.

Andrew thinks dentistry will be different for every person. He enjoys working with people to make a personalised treatment plan that makes you smile.

Dr Jessica Winter (Hindson)

Jess graduated from the University of Otago in 2009 and moved back to her hometown of Christchurch, where she has been a member of the team at St Albans Dental since 2012.

She enjoys the enthusiastic and collaborative approach here, which supports her passion for quality dentistry.

She performs all aspects of general dentistry, with a focus on long term maintenance with minimal intervention. This includes Cerec restorations, laboratory crowns, implants and endodontics.

Outside of dentistry, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young boys, and heading to the hills for running adventures.

Dr Catherine Jack

Catherine graduated from the University of Otago with Distinction in 2012. She began her career at Christchurch Hospital as a House Surgeon, gaining skills in trauma management, oral surgery and treating complex patients. Catherine then moved to private practice in sunny Nelson before family led her back home to Canterbury in 2015. Catherine is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons after completing her GDP examinations in 2018.

She enjoys the challenges of root canal work among all other aspects of general dentistry, and is able to communicate with members of our Deaf community by New Zealand Sign Language. Sarah graduated in 2010 from the University of Otago with Credit. After a year working in private practice in her home town of Oamaru, she made the move across the ditch to the Gold Coast, where she worked for a large group practice. Sarah got married in 2015 and took time off to travel around Europe before moving back to settle down in New Zealand.

She feels very fortunate to work with such a great team and to have the pleasure of treating so many lovely patients here at Lumino St Albans.

Sarah lives in Lincoln with her husband, young son and British Shorthair cat. In her spare time she enjoys live music, walking and learning to play the guitar.

Narelle graduated from the University of Otago in 2012 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. For the past 5 years, Narelle has been working in New Plymouth. Penny graduated from Otago University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery awarded with credit. She worked as a Dental House Surgeon at Wellington Hospital, before moving to Melbourne in 2006 where she worked in private practice for 14 years. Returning home to Christchurch, with her husband and three children, she was excited to join the team in 2021.

She enjoys not only creating beautiful smiles, but enlightening her patients, on how best to maintain them. Beyond dentistry, Penny loves adventures in the outdoors, experimenting in the kitchen, playing tennis, and mountain biking.

Megan Smith

Megan originally trained as a dental therapist in 1998 in Wellington. She furthered her dental studies in the United Kingdom graduating as a Dental Hygienist in 2001 from Guys Hospital London.

Since then, Megan has worked in both hospitals and private practices in the UK. On returning to New Zealand in 2007 she worked for a Periodontist (Gum Specialist) in Auckland.

Megan returned home to Christchurch in 2011. She is happy to assist you with your gum health and oral hygiene needs.

Her interests include tramping, travelling and cats.

Oral Health Therapist

Ruby Zhao

Ruby studied Bachelor of Oral Health at University of Otago, and graduated as an Oral Health Therapist in 2016.

She enjoys helping both children and adults obtain and maintain good oral health. She believes oral health is greatly linked to general body health; therefore, it's important to promote and advocate knowledge in this area. In order to help build a better quality of life.

Hence, why she chose to be part of the lovely team at Lumino St Albans. She also practices at community dental clinics serving children under 18. This allows Ruby to use her profession to its full potential.

Monica Ragg

Monica started off her career in dentistry working as a dental assistant in the United Kingdom. She then trained in Oral Health Science at the University of Essex, UK and graduated as a Dental hygienist in 2011.

Since then, Monica enjoyed working  privately in a mix of specialist and general practices around London where she acquired most of her professional and people skills.
