Meet Our Team

Sophie graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Distinction) in 2016. Before that she had already completed a Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences but her strong passion for a career in dentistry, which she believes to be a perfect combination of science and art, led her to continue further education in a dental degree. 

Sophie strives to deliver quality care and experience to all her patients. Understanding that everyone is different and has different needs, she will make sure to involve you in your dental treatment planning so that you will feel respected and well informed to make the best decision for your own oral health. Sophie also understands that dental anxiety can be a barrier for some people and will work patiently with you to help overcome this barrier, as she believes that everyone deserves a confident smile. 

Sophie enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, especially minimally invasive and preventative dentistry. Having completed further training in I.V sedation, the use of botulinum toxin for facial aesthetics and temporomandibular disorders, Sophie continues to advance her knowledge and skills through courses and conferences. She is fluent in English and Chinese Mandarin. 

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with her young family and her big fluffy dog, whether it’s to the local park or a road trip to Rotorua, it’s always a good time! She also enjoys looking after her houseplants and relaxing under the sun.

Sheryl graduated with a bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Otago in 2018. She practiced as an Oral Health Therapist at the DHB here in Auckland before joining us at Ormiston Lumino early 2021.

Sheryl is passionate about the prevention of gum disease and the maintenance of gum health. She is gentle, patient and caring and understands that some patients can be anxious coming to dental visits. She tries to provide the best care to her patients and make every trip to the hygienist an enjoyable visit.

Sheryl was born here in New Zealand but studied primary in Hong Kong for 6 years therefore is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

In her spare time, Sheryl likes swimming, snorkelling, water rafting, all the water sports you can think of and going on hikes with family and friends. She also enjoys playing the piano and is a piano teacher!

Helen graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2020. As a new graduate, she spent a year and a half working in a busy practice in the southern town of Balclutha, before moving back to East Auckland where she grew up.

Her focus in dentistry is not only fixing the teeth that require it but building lasting rapport with patients on a foundation of trust, so that you can focus on long term oral health together. Helen finds watching patients’ health and hygiene improve over time under her care one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. Trust her attentive personality and humorous nature will help ensure that every patient leaves with a smile.

Born in Christchurch, Helen is a true Kiwi at heart, she spent 6 years in Korea during her formative years and can therefore speak Korean as well as English. 

Outside of dentistry, Helen is passionate about the arts. She enjoys drawing, painting, pottery and making clay figures, and relishes trying out new forms of arts and crafts. She uses swimming and music to destress, and enjoy singings, playing the guitar and ukulele.

Darren graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Otago in 2019. He is enthusiastic about providing a warm and welcoming experience for his patients while promoting good oral hygiene. Prior to that, he had completed a degree in Pharmacology. He believes that a healthy smile boosts self-esteem and contributes to overall well-being.

Darren connects with people from diverse backgrounds and can communicate fluently in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. He enjoys educating and equipping them with the tools to maintain good oral health. He strives to make each visit comfortable and stress-free, whether it's a routine cleaning or a more complex procedure.

Outside of work, Darren enjoys exploring new places, trying out new restaurants, and spending time with his cats. He looks forward to meeting new patients and working alongside them to transform their smiles."
