Senior Dentist

Dr Stephen Charles

Stephen graduated with a BDS from The University of Otago in 1992 and has been at Wairau Park Dental since 1993. Outside of the practice Stephen enjoys fishing and tennis as well as spending time with his wife and two young daughters.

Dr Tony Dey

Tony graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2001, and then worked for 3 years in the public sector. First in the busy Oral Surgery department of Waikato Hospital and later for a Maori health provider on the East Cape. During his stint on 'The Coast' he learnt to surf and still manages to get back out that way for a little work and to catch a wave.

Dr Sonika Ghaie

Sonika graduated from the University of Leeds in 2005 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. She is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

She enjoys building a relationship and trust with her patients and making them happy. She solves their dental issues in a gentle, pleasant and professional manner.

Sonika is interested in all aspect of dentistry and always likes to keep up to date with the latest developments. She has particular interest in IV Sedation to help nervous patients. 

Having recently moved to New Zealand Soinka and her Fiancé enjoy exploring the country, enjoying the weather (compared to the UK) and she has taken up upholstery and pottery.

Richard grew up in the North Shore and attended Westlake Boys before moving to Australia and graduating from James Cook University with a BDS in 2014.

He gained valuable experience working in remote parts of Australia, with a focus on rural and indigenous health, followed by a period working in a private practice in metro Brisbane. After those several years in Australia, he made the decision to return home and join the Lumino Team.

Richard grew up in the North Shore and attended Westlake Boys before moving to Australia and graduating from James Cook University with a BDS in 2014.

He gained valuable experience working in remote parts of Australia, with a focus on rural and indigenous health, followed by a period working in a private practice in metro Brisbane. After those several years in Australia, he made the decision to return home and join the Lumino Team.

Richard enjoys all aspects of dentistry, with particular interests in wisdom teeth extractions and aesthetic restorations. He is fascinated with the latest dental technology and techniques and has undertaken numerous continuing education courses including a 2 year post graduate mini-residency course in orthodontics.

He is passionate about fitness and nutrition, as well as helping his patients understand the many links between oral health and systemic health.

Outside of dentistry, Richard enjoys exercising, playing the guitar and travelling the world. One of his most memorable trips was a dental humanitarian trip to Cambodia, working for a non-profit organisation providing free dental services in orphanages and schools in provincial areas.

With her bubbly personality and gentle demeanor, Nisha approaches dentistry in a comprehensive and conservative manner tailored to suit your individual needs. 

When she is not working, Nisha loves to swim and travel. She is an avid foodie and loves to try different cuisines.

Fa’e is so passionate about education that she is also a clinical educator at AUT for the Oral Health Department.

Fa’e also offers FREE annual dental examinations for adolescents, and also any necessary preventative or restorative treatment required.

When she is not in the clinic Fa’e likes to keep herself busy with her friends and family.

Fa’e works at Lumino Wairau Park on Wednesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays.

Ainsley Mcintyre

Ainsley graduated with a BHSc in Oral Health from AUT university in 2019 and is now a registered Oral Health Therapist. Over her 3 years of study, her passion developed in helping people achieve optimum oral health.

Her patients can expect a one-on-one, personalised experience where the quality of care and patient education are top priorities. She is confident in caring for all ages from seeing 0-18s for dental examinations and restorative procedures and 18 and over for gum treatments and maintenance using best practice techniques.

You will be sure to feel comfortable in the hands of Ainsley with her kind demeanor and gentle treatment approach. Outside of dentistry she enjoys spending time with friends, cooking and keeping fit.

Christine Murthi

I am an AUT graduate with a Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health. My motivation to promote good oral health can be attributed to my background in teaching and research. I enjoy educating patients about gum disease, the benefits of regular hygiene on overall health and augmenting their existing homecare routine.

Improving someone’s confidence and smile is very rewarding. One of the best things about my role as an oral health therapist is building relationships in the community and the learnings from each interaction, it is what makes my day very exciting.

Work aside, I love spending time with friends, family and my dog. I enjoy volunteering, yoga, being in nature, photography and dance when I have time to spare.

Brianna Janes

Originally from Canada, Brianna graduated from George Brown College in Toronto with an Advanced Diploma in Dental Hygiene. She is experienced in providing thorough periodontal therapy in a kind, caring manner.

As a Dental Hygienist, Brianna loves helping her patients achieve healthy beautiful smiles and empowering them to attain optimal oral health. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, travelling and spending time at the beach.
