What made you decide to get into dentistry as a career?
It just happened! I was initially planning on taking up medicine but after high school, I felt like doing something different and ended up taking dentistry. It has worked for me as I have really enjoyed the journey.
How long have you been practising dentistry?
12 years. It does not feel that long though. I guess time goes fast when you enjoy your work.
Many East Aucklanders may remember you from your time at Sanctuary Dental, what did you take away from your time there and at other practices?
During my time at Sanctuary Dental, I realised there are so many anxious souls out there. I always thought it's the finances that keep people away from dentists' but here I realised there is a large population of people who fear visiting the dentist due to past experiences. Putting them at ease and offering treatment under IV sedation has become a key skill in my arsenal.
What are your special interests in dentistry?
I enjoy every little thing but have a keen interest in the technological advances like clear correct treatment (clear aligners for straightening teeth) and placing dental implants via a fully guided system. This makes implant treatment very predictable with great results.
What is one main piece of advice you give your patients?
I stress a lot on regular hygiene maintenance and check ups. It's the only way to keep your teeth for life!
Where would we find you outside of the practice?
I love cricket as well as spending time with family and friends. But cricket obviously tops the list.
