What made you decide to get into dentistry as a career?
I knew I wanted to work in healthcare. I liked the work/life balance of dentistry, as well as the hands-on nature of the profession, and that it allows us to monitor and help patients over time.
How long have you been practising dentistry?
I graduated from Otago University in 2014, so 9 years now.
Tell us about your career background?
After graduation I moved to Central Otago, and practiced in rural general dental practice for a couple of years, followed by one year in the Hawke’s Bay. About 6 years ago I moved to Auckland and I love it here.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing familiar faces and helping people.
What are your special interests in dentistry?
Everything! I like to keep my days varied and I maintain interest and learning in many areas of dentistry, which also helps me to plan complex cases. I have broad experience in Invisalign, IV sedation, smile design, implant surgery, root canal treatment, and CEREC.
What is the main piece of advice you give your patients?
Focus on prevention, including a good home routine for keeping teeth clean and eating well.
Where would we find you outside of the practice?
Outside! Probably playing tennis or golf, or at the beach.
