Lumino Auckland Central Welcomes Jacy Lin

Lumino Auckland Central is excited to have Dr Jacy Lin join their team.

Jacy graduated from the University of Otago in 2013 and has been practising dentistry since 2014. In 2022 she underwent her Master’s degree in Aesthetic dentistry. Since graduating Jacy has taken part in a few dental volunteering projects and worked as a part-time clinical tutor in the 461 PPCE, UCU and Oral Surgery department at the University of Otago.

Jacy decided to get into dentistry as a career since she's always had a passion for both art and medicine. She wanted to do something and have a career that has a combination of art and medicine. Jacy also loves how hands on dentistry is.

"I love that not every day is the same, not every case is the same, I love the challenges and the potential for problem solving and learning that comes with the job."

Jacy has had a few memorable cases working in dentistry and has enjoyed making a difference in her patients' smiles. 

"One of the most memorable moments was when I volunteered in Fiji with the Smile for the Pacific organization and treated a local farmer who was in so much pain due to a toothache. He had to walk half a day from his village to the hospital because he had no other means of transportation. After a few days, he came back to the hospital to thank me with a bag of bananas from his farm and was almost in tears."

Jacy likes all types of dentistry. She likes general dentistry because she believes that every type of treatment has its own special role but if she had to pick it would be aesthetic dentistry.

Jacy's main piece of advice to her patients is 'Laugh, smile and be happy! Live and make the most of every single day because life is short. And of course floss!'

Outside of the practice you would find Jacy outside in the sun, at the beach, or taking a hike in nature. She is also a big foodie so you will probably find her at the latest trendy restaurant trying their food.
