Wayne graduated with a BDS from Otago University in 1978.
His main dental interest is 'Cerec' bonded porcelain dentistry. They are the gold standard for restoring teeth that present with ugly broken, black fillings. Wayne has been replacing them since 2003 and he remains convinced that there is nothing better for comprehensive tooth restoration. His main dental interest is 'Cerec' bonded porcelain dentistry. They are the gold standard for restoring teeth that present with ugly broken, black fillings. Wayne has been replacing them since 2003 and he remains convinced that there is nothing better for comprehensive tooth restoration. A single visit procedure results in a good looking, long-lasting result. Cerec preparations also involve less stress on the tooth and result in a more comfortable tooth. The restored tooth can be easily monitored because the ceramic can be looked through with routine radiography. The possibility of subsequent pulp death is much lower than lab-made crowns and patient comfort and satisfaction are consistently very high.
Wayne enjoys attending ongoing professional development opportunities. His main goal is to exceed a patient's expectations without compromising the quality of the dentistry.
He also enjoys using skills he has learned and practiced to help people feel happy and healthy and to value the care he provides.
Outside of the practice, Wayne enjoys having a good book to read, bodyboarding and sorting through crates of records and CDs. Despite being a poor public speaker he hosted a weekly student radio show for a year in 1990 called 'The Sydenham Dental Centre Thing'.
His favourite place to be is in the lineup on a good day in the surf. And although he claims to be useless at bodyboarding he knows all the jokes though: "What's the most difficult thing about bodyboarding?" "Telling your parents!"
