He has attended multiple international dental conferences and training courses overseas and locally over the years to learn and improve professionally.
He takes time to listen to patients needs and concerns and works as a team with them and the local laboratory and specialists in town to offer the best treatment options available not forgetting the importance of the support from our awesome team members at Lumino working in the background. He tries his best to see that patients have a pleasant , kind and gentle dental experience. “I prioritise and endeavour to take the time to listen to my patient’s needs, concerns and budget and to inform and educate them on their treatment options.”
Gavin has a special interest in restorative dentistry, treating worn / collapsed dentition, cosmetic dentistry, replacing old black / broken amalgam restorations and replace missing teeth with implant restorations in conjunction with local surgeons. He also enjoys improving smiles or crowded teeth with Invisalign clear aligners / teeth whitening / veneers. Gavin's primary focus is on conservative and preventative care and improving his patient's smile, confidence and function.
Over the years Gavin has introduced more technology into the practice to improve patient experience and treatment - 3D intra oral scanning instead of messy, uncomfortable putty impressions. AI design for smile make overs or treatment simulation so patients can see what they will look like before they commit to any treatment. Since introducing a 3D printer, he can offer in house night guards, sport guards, diagnostic study models, bleach trays and some restorations at reduced cost to patients.
Gavin loves learning and keeping up to date with the latest technological changes and introduction AI in dentistry so patients can benefit from all the rapidly changing treatment options and equipment out there. Outside of the practice you will find Gavin spending time with his wife, son and sausage dog. They love the outdoors and weekends you will find them tramping, mountain/ trail biking, boating and trying to catch fish instead of feeding them bait and experiencing all that this magnificent country we live in has to offer.

Richards's goal is to grow in all fields of dentistry as one can never stop learning and growing as a person and a professional.
What Richard loves most about his job is creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere for his patients. He has been on the receiving end of the dental chair many times in the past resulting in a lot of empathy for his patients. He also likes to see patients walk out of his room having a very clear understanding of their oral health, associated problems (if any) and what treatments are available and necessary for them as an individual.
Outside the practice, Richard enjoys all sports especially tennis, cricket, golf, disc golf, ultimate frisbee, touch rugby, MTB, tramping and supping. He also enjoys walking his two dogs, travelling, socialising and spending time with friends and family. He is also a keen birder/twitcher.
