Dr Emma Yang

Dr Emma was born in Auckland and graduated from the University of Otago. Originally from Taiwan, she is fluent in both English and Mandarin. Her interests include cosmetic dentistry and endodontics as she enjoys helping patients out of pain and creating new smiles.

Having worked for a few years in a rural setting, she has a fair share of oral surgery experience. This led her to complete courses in both wisdom teeth surgery and dental implants. She believes in treating patients with compassion and strives to provide a gentle and holistic experience to everyone. Her patient-centered approach focuses on tailoring each patient’s plan to the individual’s needs. Outside of work, Emma is a massive foodie and enjoys traveling.

Dr Jashanth Aloysious

Jashanth graduated from DR.M.G.R University, Chennai, India in 2009 with a BDS.

The most enjoyable part of his role is exploring the various intricacies of dentistry, working towards perfection and achieving maximum patient satisfaction.

Jashanth is interested in general dentistry with special interest in crown and bridge works and orthodontics. He is keeping abreast with the latest advancements in dentistry and looking forward to pursue higher studies in orthodontics. 

When not at the practice Jashanth likes to keep in touch with family back home, hanging out with friends, watching movies, following cricket and the Liverpool football club.

Helen graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2020. As a new graduate, she spent a year and a half working in a busy practice in the southern town of Balclutha, before moving back to East Auckland where she grew up.

Her focus in dentistry is not only fixing the teeth that require it but building lasting rapport with patients on a foundation of trust, so that you can focus on long term oral health together. Helen graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2020. As a new graduate, she spent a year and a half working in a busy practice in the southern town of Balclutha, before moving back to East Auckland where she grew up.

Her focus in dentistry is not only fixing the teeth that require it but building lasting rapport with patients on a foundation of trust, so that you can focus on long term oral health together. Helen finds watching patients’ health and hygiene improve over time under her care one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. Trust her attentive personality and humorous nature will help ensure that every patient leaves with a smile.

Born in Christchurch, Helen is a true Kiwi at heart, she spent 6 years in Korea during her formative years and can therefore speak Korean as well as English. 

Outside of dentistry, Helen is passionate about the arts. She enjoys drawing, painting, pottery and making clay figures, and relishes trying out new forms of arts and crafts. She uses swimming and music to destress, and enjoy singings, playing the guitar and ukulele.

Quincy trained at a medical university overseas and completed his medical degree before he came to New Zealand in 2002. He worked for Auckland Regional Dental Service for two years as oral health therapist before joining Lumino the dentist in 2019.

In addition to gaining experience at a fixed practice, Abdullah had the opportunity to work on mobile clinics visiting many high schools all around the central North Island which allowed him to work with patients of many diverse backgrounds each with their own specific needs regarding oral health. 

Abdullah knew he wanted to be an oral health therapist after volunteering at a friend’s dental clinic a few times. The thing he loves most about his job is being able to make a positive difference in people’s oral health. He loves the feeling of knowing that a person’s quality of life has improved after his contribution towards improving their oral health. At this early stage of his career, Abdullah likes all aspects of the oral health therapist scopes however slowly leaning towards hygiene. 

The one piece of advice that Abdullah always gives his patients is the importance of keeping up with a good homecare plan to maintain excellent oral health as well as regularly visiting the hygienist.

Outside the practice, you’ll most likely find Abdullah spending time with family, playing sports such as basketball, or at the gym working out, and occasionally, he will buy some LEGO race car sets and put them together.

She loves helping the local community feel comfortable and cared for whenever they come to see the dentist. The caring and professional demeanour of Lumino suits her style of creating and fostering relationships with patients.

She says she loves the people she gets to interact with the most about her job, and likes making them feel special and valued. Mena also likes knowing that she can make a difference with her enthusiasm and drive to always offer the best service.

When she’s not in practice, Mena likes helping out within the local community, walking her dog, doing yoga and really just living a healthy lifestyle. An interesting fact about her is that she actually loves playing soccer – in fact, she coaches her 8-year-old son’s soccer team! She is also a guest speaker for the Salvation Army’s bridging programme.
