Dr Antha van Vuuren has recently started her role as Lead Dentist at Lumino West Coast Dental Kaitaia.
Antha has been working as a dentist since 1986 and brings an impressive amount of experience to our team.
What made you decide to get into dentistry as a career?
Dentistry combines art, science and psychology. This is inspiring and fulfilling for me.
How long have you been practising dentistry?
I qualified in 1986 and have worked as a dentist ever since.
What is your most memorable case to date?
I've had many memorable cases throughout my career. A recent case touched my heart. I restored a patient's smile and she was so overjoyed that she burst into tears. At the start of treatment, she smiled hesitantly and would hide her teeth but at the end, she was smiling from ear to ear!
What do you love most about your job?
I love the interaction with people in my job. My special interest is aesthetic dentistry.
What is the main piece of advice you give your patients?
Oral health is inextricably linked to general overall health. It is an investment in your wellbeing.
Where would we find you outside of the practice?
I love nature, long walks outside, this is truly food for the soul. I like reading, creative writing, and photography.
