Dr James Fairhall

James has been working in Wellington since 2002 and prides himself on providing the most thorough and comprehensive of examinations.

He has a passion for restoring people's teeth back to a condition where they feel happy to smile again. He has a strong belief that dentistry is not just about treating teeth but in fact the whole person. Healthy, happy teeth lead to healthy, happy people.

Dentist

Dr Andrea Falkner

Dr Andrea Falkner is an experienced dentist who graduated from The University of Otago School of Dentistry in 1995. Since then she has worked in private practices and hospital dentistry both here in New Zealand and Australia. She returned to Wellington in 2001 and has been part of the Courtenay Place practice for over ten years.

Andrea has an interest in preventative dentistry and likes focusing on the whole person rather than just the mouth. She aims to make the patients' dental experiences relaxed and pleasant while providing a high standard of general dentistry.

Andrea enjoys spending her leisure time with her family and in the garden.

Dentist

Dr Sam Thompson

Sam previously worked in the public health system where he provided care for medically unwell patients and developed surgical confidence under the maxillofacial surgical team.

Here he developed the skills to remove wisdom teeth and insert implants. Since joining the Lumino team Sam has taken an interest in minimally invasive and aesthetic dentistry.

While Sam has the skill set to alleviate pain; he would rather emphasise prevention, build a relationship of trust, and avoid intrusive procedures where possible.

Originally from the South Island, Sam enjoys tramping, skiing, diving and squash in his spare time.

Dr Joo Leem

After completing a Biomedical Science degree at the University of Auckland, Joo realised that actually dentistry was her calling and graduated with her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago.

Prior to starting at Lumino, Joo worked at Wellington Hospital for two years, then moved to sunny Hawke's Bay to take on a role as a Dental/Maxillofacial house surgeon where she provided treatment for medically complex patients and trauma patients.

Outside of the practice, Joo has a variety of hobbies including learning Spanish, pottery, drawing, snowboarding and working out at the gym. She thoroughly enjoyed her time in Hawke's Bay but is very excited to return to Wellington and all it has to offer!

Lead Hygienist

Rachel Smith

Rachel has been with the Courtenay Place practice since graduating in Otago in 1997. She is a "people person', passionate in her role as a Dental Hygienist with a strong philosophy in education and individually tailor making treatment programmes to help people take control of their oral health.

Rachel's interests include the outdoors, travelling and the spanish language. She has undertaken work in volunteer dentistry in Ecuador, South America with underprivileged children and she is always looking to broaden her skills and life experience.

Hygienist

Annette Jarvis

Annette Jarvis comes to Lumino with a load of enthusiasm and experience. She is renowned for calming the nerves of even the utmost anxious patient.

When it comes to hygiene treatment, many of us would rather put it off, with Annette, you actually look forward to it! She's passionate about educating her patients regarding their oral health, and encouraging them with positive results. She says she loves the relationships and challenges her job brings.

You can be sure that your experience with Annette will be a positive one, as she empowers you to take control of your own oral health excellence.

When she's not working, Annette loves to tinker around her new home and be with her husband and two amazing kids.

Oral Health Therapist

Ashna Singh

Ashna Singh graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Oral Health.

She loves the patient interactions she has on a daily basis and gets satisfaction from helping her patients improve their oral health. Her professional goals include being the influence people need to make changes to their oral health and to be successful in her work.

In the future Ashna hopes to pursue a Masters in Oral Health . She is also interested in furthering her skills in Orthodontics.

Outside of the practice, Ashna loves Bollywood dancing and enjoys going to the gym. She hopes to improve her strength through power lifting! Her favourite place to be is at home, which is the place she is most comfortable.

Practice Manager

Amanda Fox

Amanda has been part of Lumino The Dentists Courtenay Place since 2008 and before that she was a dental assistant.

She leads the front of house and is responsible for ensuring that all patients have a great experience, from when they make their appointment, to the completion of their dental treatment. Amanda enjoys the interaction that she has with all the patients and seeing them leave the practice satisfied with big smiles on their faces.

Amanda also enjoys being part of the big Courtenay Place team and the working relationship that she has with her team.

Outside the practice Amanda is a fitness fanatic who takes part in a variety of sports including snowboarding and cycling.
