The Auckland DHB Relief of Pain Service is an emergency service provided for Community Services Card holders at registered DHB dentists only. This service provides emergency pain relief for dental problems only, either by simple extraction, temporary filling, prescription and / or x-rays. It doesn’t cover general work or wisdom teeth, as its focus is to relieve pain. You may still need to see a private dentist after your pain has been relieved.

Community Services Card holders are entitled to 3 appointments each year with the DHB Relief of Pain service. The card must belong to the person receiving the treatment and it must be valid.

The appointment will cost $40.00 (except for children and for referred psychiatric inpatients). This needs to be paid on the day of treatment. Some treatments will have an extra charge. The dentist will let you know of any additional costs.
