CSC Registered Dentist & DHB Relief

Worried about the cost of dental treatment? Don’t stress! If you have a Community Services Card, you could save on dental treatment at our registered practices.

With a valid Community Services Card from WINZ, you and your family can get the help you need with the cost of dental care. This also includes some dentist visits and emergency relief-of-pain services at our DHB-registered dentists.

If you have a Community Services Card, you can look after your oral health for less with discounts at our participating practices. 

What it is

If you have a valid Community Services Card you may be eligible for reduced dental care costs at registered, participating Lumino practices.  

 

Auckland DHB Relief of Pain Service

The Auckland DHB Relief of Pain service is offered for Community Service Card holders by some Auckland dentists, for emergency dental treatments. This emergency treatment is available for Community Service cardholders only and is priced at $40, the same rate as hospitals.

Who can use it

Discount for Community Services Card holders is only available at participating practices. You can use your Community Services Card and discounts for any dependent children you have, if they are under 18 years old.

You may be eligible for a Community Services Card if you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, 16 or over, not a dependent child and you normally live in New Zealand and intend to stay here.

Your eligibility will also depend on how much income you and your partner get.

Have questions?

Not all Lumino practices offer a discount to Community Services Card holders. The best way to make sure and confirm this is the call the practice before book an appointment.

You can also use your card and discounts for your dependent children under they reach 18 years old, at participating practices. You should let the practice know prior to making a booking.

Only a few Auckland dentists offer emergency dental treatments for Community Services Card holders. The practice needs to be DHB-registered to offer this service.

The Auckland DHB Relief of Pain Service is an emergency service provided for Community Services Card holders at registered DHB dentists only. This service provides emergency pain relief for dental problems only, either by simple extraction, temporary filling, prescription and / or x-rays. It doesn’t cover general work or wisdom teeth, as its focus is to relieve pain. You may still need to see a private dentist after your pain has been relieved.

Community Services Card holders are entitled to 3 appointments each year with the DHB Relief of Pain service. The card must belong to the person receiving the treatment and it must be valid.

The appointment will cost $40.00 (except for children and for referred psychiatric inpatients). This needs to be paid on the day of treatment. Some treatments will have an extra charge. The dentist will let you know of any additional costs.

Terms & Conditions

DHB Relief of Pain Service is only offered by contracted dentists. These fees only apply to NZ residents. Non-NZ residents will be charged the full cost of treatment. Please check with your local DHB for more detail.

The cost of the Relief of Pain Service needs to be paid on the day of treatment. Some treatments might have an extra charge. For instance, a surgical extraction under local or general anaesthetic (GA). Your Dentist will advise you of any additional charges if applicable.

Community Services Card discount does not cover the full cost of emergency dental treatment. It will provide a discount on the price of emergency treatment, however.
