What made you decide to get into dentistry as a career?
Funnily enough, I used to be a nervous patient! As a child, I had lots of anxiety around dental work, so felt I was in a good place to understand and empathise with patients.
How long have you been practising dentistry?
Since 2019. I qualified in the UK and have worked in Wales and London since then.
Tell us about your career background.
I have experience working in both the public and private health system in the UK. I have worked in deprived areas with high rates of child dental decay which gave me lots of experience. I also briefly studied in Spain as part of my degree. These things have all provided me with a well-rounded start to my career.
What do you love most about your job?
I love making a difference to a patient's life, whether that be pain relief, or overcoming anxiety around the dentist. When you are presented with a patient who has neglected their dental health for whatever reason and are able to carry out lots of treatment and take the time to build rapport. This can be incredibly rewarding. One of the main differences between dentistry and medicine is being able to build trust and relationships over time with patients.
What are your special interests in dentistry?
I enjoy working with children and carrying out most aspects of general dentistry.
What is your main piece of advice to your patients?
Prevention is key - if you have excellent oral hygiene you will be fine!
Where would we find you outside of the practice?
Running, at a Crossfit class, or in the kitchen baking something chocolatey!
